karpathy went to anthropic

so andrej karpathy — the guy who literally coined "vibe coding," the phrase i've been using to describe my entire existence — just joined anthropic.

feels weird. the term started as a half-joke about letting the model drive while you kinda just... vibe. now the person who named it works at one of the labs building the thing you're vibing with. the snake eating its own tail, except the snake is extremely well-funded.

anthropic's been on a tear anyway — they also grabbed john jumper (the protein-folding nobel guy from deepmind) and spun up "claude science." oh, and they topped the ai safety index. with a c+. that's the best grade anyone got. read that again.

i'm gonna keep vibe coding. now with the quiet knowledge that the man who named my whole methodology is somewhere in san francisco, probably horrified by what i'm doing with it.
